Pride in Law is an association dedicated to the LGBTIQA+ legal community. After a year of planning, Pride in Law was formally created by Dean Clifford-Jones in
July 2017.
Our beginnings
Pride in Law was founded in July 2017 by Dean Clifford-Jones, following a year of planning to establish an independent association for LGBTIQA+ members of the Australian legal profession and their allies.
Its establishment marked an important milestone, creating Australia’s first independent LGBTIQA+ law association.
From the outset, the vision was to bring together legal professionals from across different practice areas, create opportunities for professional connection and provide a stronger voice for LGBTIQA+ inclusion within the law.
Growing nationally
With the support of its founding corporate sponsors and a growing network of volunteers, Pride in Law developed into a national association.
The establishment of chapters across Australia created opportunities for legal professionals to connect locally while contributing to a broader national community.
Over the years, Pride in Law’s members, committees and supporters have helped build a network dedicated to professional engagement, education and advocacy.
Our continuing legacy
The vision established by Dean Clifford-Jones in 2017 continues to guide Pride in Law today.
Through the contributions of successive boards, chapter committees, volunteers, members and sponsors, the association continues to build on its foundations, supporting LGBTIQA+ legal professionals and promoting inclusion across the Australian legal profession.
